Better luck next time.

This tea towel was a gift from my friend Tonya. A dear friend who clearly knows me well.

This week was not what I anticipated or planned. I detest inefficiency and this ‘short holiday week’ was a big, fat, hairy reminder that I don’t have a clue what I’m doing in the 50% of my week where I’m not working my ‘job’ job. There are certain days when I’m off work that I get everything crossed off my to-do list. Other days I don’t even get around to making the list.

This was pretty much a no-list week.

Unexpected sick kiddo, totally unruly two-year-old, some tech issues at work. Just fun, fun, fun all around. Did I mention unruly two-year-old? Like “climbing on all surfaces, dumping out contents of ANYTHING and everything he gets his hands on, sharpening pencils while on top of the desk, spreading Nutella on my chairs, bathing in the sink, dumping out the dog’s food, emptying stuff in the toilet” unruly?

Into EVERYTHING.

This may be the only time I’ve ever regretted having Nutella in the house.

Little was accomplished aside from doctors appointments and teeth brushing. Truthfully, the brushing was a stretch at times. BUT, we did have a little fun making a new recipe. My oldest son came home from school describing these peanut butter balls a friend took in for snack. The kids are allowed to take a healthy snack to school and each morning we debate about what constitutes healthy. So I’m trying to come up with some go-to options to end the debate. I vaguely remembered a similar treat made by my friend Kristi. So, a little Pinterest search and I found exactly what I wanted. Recipe here.

Peanut Butter Power Bites

2/3 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup quick cooking oats

1/2 cup chocolate chips

2 T honey

1/2 cup flax seed

Mix all ingredients, cool in fridge for ten minutes and roll into balls. These store up to a week in the fridge but ours were gone in a matter of two days. Good for breakfast, school snacks, dessert. They’re ‘healthy’ so I felt it necessary to eat four at a time.

There you have it. My one success for the week of September 5th. I’m so proud. Don’t try to keep up with me…..I’m virtually unstoppable.

  1. You forgot the coconut and chia seeds! Lol! I’m sure they were delish though. On a side note, I should be logging all the insane things Chloe does when I am reminded that silience is not golden…with a toddler…she gave out toilet a nice think coat of toothpaste on the seat..that was fun to clean off!!!

  2. I feel your pain of this week. I am doing it daily too!
My #3 will be 2 in November, wearing 3T clothes, has NO Fear, understand the word ‘NO’ to mean ‘hurry and do it as fast as you can and then run away as fast as you can’, has the strength of a 4 yr old, and never stops getting into everything. I did not think I made this child with a random super hero or villain. Her Dad is the same Dad as my other two. My husband keeps telling me that she is just making sure she will always be the baby, because she will be the last child we ever have.

    • Isn’t it funny how they assert themselves to solidify their “baby” status? I don’t know that I couldn’t handle this many kids if he has been earlier in the rank. He is giving us a run for our money 🙂 hope you get some rest this weekend!
